Philosophy and Mission

Saint Columbkille Parish School Philosophy:

We believe our school exists to teach the mandate of Jesus: "Love one another as I have loved you."

To accomplish the vision we continually strive to build a community of faith in which the Christian message, the experience of community, worship and social concerns are integrated in the total experience of the students, their parents, and members of the staff.

We believe that Catholic faith formation and Catholic religious education are the purpose and focal point of our school. Faith values permeate all subject areas in the curriculum. We call our students to service not only to the Catholic community, but to other segments of society as well. Our school policies, programs, and day-to-day interaction proclaim the Gospel of Jesus. Thus we teach the foundations of Catholic belief and foster the development of prayer life, a sense of community, and concern for social justice.

We believe that we share the vision of Jesus within an atmosphere designed to celebrate and practice the love of God and neighbor. We motivate students to grow academically, culturally, and socially. Jesus remains with the community He formed, and we are privileged to witness and share that Presence.

Saint Columbkille School Mission Statement: "Witness to Jesus"

We believe that:

  • The words and actions of each person in the school should be loving and respectful.
  • We exist to spread the good news of Jesus.
  • We provide opportunities to build and experience faith community.
  • We guide students in the responsibility of service.
  • We teach religious truths and values in such a way that they become an integrated part of the daily school program.
  • We develop an academic program and environment conducive to the optimal development of each student.
